About
Our Puppies
Congratulations
and thank you for choosing an Image puppy as your next family
member! The following will address most questions you might
have about obtaining and owning one of our babies.
Image
puppies are dual registered with both the AKC and ASCA registries.
They are the culmination of months of time and research
for us to match up the best combinations of conformation, pedigree,
temperament, and health/genetic soundness in both parents. We
will only breed dogs that have been cleared of hip dysplasia by
OFA/PennHIP registries, are cleared of eye anomalies by current
CERF exams, have normal thyroid ranges as determined by OFA and
veterinary T4s, and display sound temperaments.
Visits
to our home are always welcome and encouraged at any time. You
will not only meet the mother of your future family member, but
you can meet their relatives that are here on our property.
Our
puppies are house-raised in an area of our sunroom built just
for them. From the day they are born they are handled by
myself or other family members several times per day. Once
their eyes and ears open, they are introduced to other adult dogs,
our resident cats, TV, and radio over time. From the age
of 7 weeks and after, the puppies are allowed outside several
times per day to run, play, explore, and chase my pants legs.
Our
puppies come with guarantees for hips and eyes. We have
a certified veterinary opthamologist do an eye exam on all our
puppies when they are between 7 and 8 weeks of age, clearing them
of any eye anomalies.
All
of our companion/performance puppies are sold on spay/neuter contracts
with limited registration papers. This means that the puppy
would have to be spayed/neutered on or before they turn 7 months
old, and the puppy cannot be shown in conformation. All
other dog sports offered by any registry/organization are encouraged.
All
of our show prospect puppies are sold on co-ownerships with full
registration. In addition to our normal guarantees, we also
guarantee that the puppy will not develop any disqualifying faults
for the show ring.
To
let us know that you are interested in one of our puppies, just
fill out our questionnaire/references that is located in our site.
Once we receive that from you, we will note the date they
were sent, and let you know that we received them. We will
also maintain a dialog with you at this time if we have any questions
pertaining to your answers or references.
If
you've satisfied our requirements for a new owner, you will be
put on a waiting list for a puppy chronologically, dependent upon
the date we received your forms. We then next take into
consideration what your requirements are for a puppy, as well
as your lifestyle, experience with dogs, etc.
Final
selection of which puppy goes to which home occurs around the
age of 8 weeks. Since we do breedings primarily for ourselves,
we need to wait until the 8 week stage of development to decide
if/what puppy we would like to keep for showing and ultimate inclusion
in our breeding program. After our selection (and possible
stud dog owner selection in some instances) the waiting list individuals
are then matched up with several potential puppies, taking all
factors into consideration. Final choice is by the new owner,
with recommendations from us.
Once
a new owner of an Image puppy, you will be added to our Group
email account on Yahoo!. This is a wonderful place for all
owners to exchange ideas, ask questions, share stories and pictures,
and compare notes on family members. It expands your network
of help and encouragement. You'll make a lot of new friends!
We
are also here 24/7 to answer any questions you may have, suggest
training techniques, and be as support as we can. We're
just a phone call/email away!
